The Final Degree Project (FDP) consists of the development of an animation or visual effects (VFX) project that integrates all stages of the professional production pipeline. It is a year-long project divided into four phases: idea definition, technical and artistic development, submission of the report, and a public defense before an examination board. The course emphasizes collaborative work and the ability to manage complex projects independently and professionally.
- Definition — Registration of the group and project in the eSecretary (until December 15th)
- Production Development — Partial deliverables and group pitches with follow-up sessions to receive feedback
- Submission — Deposit of the report (until May 31st or September 15th)
- Defense — Collective presentation and individual defense before the examination board (July/October)

Main objectives:
- Technical Mastery — Apply advanced animation and VFX techniques to create an audiovisual piece.
- Project Management — Plan all stages of production: research, organization, and information management.
- Teamwork — Manage multidisciplinary teams effectively.
- Professional Communication — Communicate the process and final outcome, both in writing and orally, before a specialized audience.
- Professional Profile — Create a demo reel that reflects the individual contribution within the collective project.
The methodology is based on simulating a professional production environment, where students work in multidisciplinary teams taking on specialized roles —much like those in a real 3D animation or VFX studio. The project evolves iteratively through regular follow-up meetings with the supervisor, who acts as a production overseer, guiding both technical and creative decisions at each stage. Group sessions foster internal communication, collective problem-solving, and consensus-based decision-making, while personal work ensures the individual development of each team member. This approach combines creative autonomy with continuous supervision, replicating the dynamics of a real professional pipeline from pre-production through to the final delivery and defense of the project.
- Project follow-up (70%) — partial deliverables (Pitch WIP)
- Report (10%) — Written document
- Defense (10%) — Final presentation before the examination board
- Individual contribution / Reel (10%) — Personal work and professional prof
