REGULATIONS

1.REGISTRATION

The Degree Final Project (DFP) must be registered within the degree’s registration period. The DFP can only be submitted after passing all the subjects included in the degree course being pursued.

DFP registration includes the option to present it in two calls: a presentation in the ordinary call or a presentation in the extraordinary call.

Extraordinary call

Only if the student requests it and is within the framework stipulated by the school’s regulations (having a maximum of two core subjects of the degree pending at the time of enrolment, alongside the DFP, which must be subjects that are being repeated), the student will have a third extraordinary option for presenting the DFP in February.

Incompatibilities for the defence of the DFP

The defence of the DFP can only be carried out once all the subjects of the degree have been passed. Therefore, to be able to enrol, it is necessary to have taken or have enroled in all the subjects that make up the degree at the same time (considering any enrollment restrictions that may exist).

2.DFP director

All lecturers who serve as DFP directors must belong to the teaching staff of La Salle – Universitat Ramon Llull. The DFP director will ensure the quality and coherence of the DFP specifications, the execution roadmap and will provide guidance to the students in its completion.

Co-direction of DFP

The co-direction arrangement may exist in a DFP. The co-director in charge is the one who will notify the degree coordination. Therefore, only one of the two co-directors will be responsible for entering the information in the register. See section 3. REGISTRATION OF THE DEGREE.

Co-direction of an external DFP

If the work is conducted within the framework of a company or any institution other than La Salle-Universitat Ramon Llull, the co-direction of the DFP may also exist. In this case, a co-director of La Salle’s DFP, as defined above, will also be necessary to ensure the monitoring of the DFP and provide assistance on the day of the public defence. In this case, the responsible co-director must notify the degree coordination. The co-director responsible for entering the information in the record will be the teacher from La Salle. See section 2.DFP PROCESS.

3.DELIVERY DEADLINES OF THE REPORT AND PUBLIC DEFENSE PERIODS

Every DFP will have a follow-up conducted by the assigned DFP supervisor. During these meetings, the work completed by the students will be reviewed, and they will be provided with guidance for its proper execution.

The work consists of four review points that students must meet. Failure to meet any of these points will result in the loss of the examination. These points include:

  • Registration of the project: The title must be specified, along with a brief description of it, and the director and co-director (if applicable) must be included. The registration must be accepted by the director(s) of the Degree Final Project.
  • Partial delivery: Throughout the course, meetings will be held with the DFP management. At this review point, the partial delivery of the project, including the material produced thus far, is required.
  • Final delivery: The final report of the work will be submitted.
  • Defence: The work completed will be presented in front of a specific panel.

The report and defence of the DFP are individual tasks

Royal Decree 822/2021, regarding the “Basic organization of official university degree programs”, Chapter III, in reference to the “General guidelines for the design of degree program syllabus”, determines in Article 14:

“The Degree Final Project, which is compulsory and necessary for obtaining the official degree, is essentially aimed at demonstrating the student’s mastery and application of the knowledge, competencies, and skills that define the official university degree.”

It must be carried out in the final phase of the study plan, following the criteria established by each university or institution. Likewise, final degree projects must be defended in a public event, following the regulations established for this purpose by the institution or, where applicable, the university”.

This means that each student at La Salle URL university must submit a report and conduct a personal public defense. However, for those university degrees in which group work is involved, the role or personal contribution of each student must be defined, and even if there is a common part, the student’s individual contribution must be clearly stated.

5.STUDENT RESPONSABILITIES

If the defense of the DFP is contingent upon the publication of the grades for any subject(s), the student must inform the degree coordinator.

If the student is unable to defend the DFP in the scheduled session, for academic or other reasons, the report will be retained in the academic secretary’s office. In such cases, students must request the submission of the report for the session they deem appropriate, provided they are enrolled, and inform both the academic secretary’s office and the degree coordination.

Certain degree programs may have additional rules pertaining to specific aspects of the DFP that must be adhered to. Please refer to the guidelines provided by the degree program coordination.

6.INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The intellectual property rights of all final undergraduate or master’s degree projects defended at the school belong to La Salle-Universitat Ramon Llull. In exceptional cases, the school’s administration may transfer these rights to students or companies that make such requests. This matter must be fully resolved prior to the defense of the dissertation.

7.FORMAL ASPECTS OF THE REPORT TO BE SUBMITTED

The report should include at least the following sections:

  • Official cover pages of La Salle University URL
  • An abstract (in Catalan, Spanish and English)
  • The length of the report should adhere to the parameters specified in the area’s regulations

Students at La Salle – Universitat Ramon Llull are required to comply with these regulations. However, specific regulations may apply based on the degree program. In such cases, these will be provided by the degree program coordination office.

PROCESS

Before initiating the registration process, you and your DFP director must come to an agreement, along with the degree coordination. The DFP director must accept the application. Each of the phases to be completed by the students must be carried out through the eSecretary platform.

1.REGISTRATION APPLICATION

In both cases, the student will receive an email. If the application is rejected, the “Application for registration of the designer” entry will be removed from the DFP director’s folder, and the student must return to step 1. If accepted, it will be converted into a new entry labelled “Project in progress”.
