Objectives
Contents

1) Synopsis & structural analysis – Students need to produce a synopsis of 3 – 6 pages, a summary of all the main events in their story as well as a sequential analysis of the structure. Students will also be asked to explain the main themes and intentions of their story. Students must read and critique each-others work.
2) Treatment – A detailed account of every event in the story that should be between 20-30 pages. Students must work progressively submitting parts of the treatment weekly. Each group will receive weekly feedback form their classmates and teacher.
3) Script – Once the treatment is finalized students will begin writing their script on the program CELTX. We will review script writing format and style. Students will work progressively and receive feedback from their classmates and teacher.
4) One-page pitch – Students will produce a professional one-page pitch document. This will include a logline, storyline and intentions which they will be able to send to producers in order to introduce their project.

Methodology

The classes will consist of one-hour meetings between 2 – 3 groups. Each group will need to submit their work weekly and read their classmates work in order to perform as script editors and provide constructive criticism for their classmates´ work.

The meetings will be focused on passing through these main stages. The number of sessions for each stage is approximate and will depend greatly on the students’ progress.

Evaluation

- The student’s performance as a script editor at weekly meetings. [30%].
- The submitted treatment and script. [70%].
