Singular methodology inspired by the Great Books Seminars
The Philosophy degree at La Salle – Universitat Ramon Llull is distinguished by a unique methodology that combines deep reading, debate, and experiential learning:
- Reading and debate seminars: Classes are conducted in a seminar format, fostering an interactive classroom environment. Students and professors engage in the reading of significant philosophical, literary, and historical works, encouraging critical analysis and debate on the fundamental questions they raise.
- Reading great works: Throughout the program, students explore and analyze major works from the Western tradition and current debates, acquiring deep knowledge of influential thinkers and philosophical currents to develop their own rigorous and enlightened thinking.
- Argument development: In seminars, students intensively work on developing their ability to argue both orally and in writing. They formulate personal positions on philosophical themes and defend these positions in debates with peers.
- Personalized attention: Professors guide students in drafting their writings and provide continuous feedback. Each subject culminates with an assignment that compiles six proprietary ideas, followed by a public defense of their analysis.
- Intensive seminars in key cities: To complement learning, students participate in specialized seminars in historically significant cities for philosophy, such as Athens or Florence. There, they collaborate with experts on classical works and visit sites of philosophical, cultural, and historical interest.
This methodology transforms philosophical learning into an experiential experience, integrating theoretical understanding with practical skills and an interdisciplinary approach.
