The Master’s in Cultural Studies in Architecture is designed for those who dare to explore this possibility. For those who understand that architecture is not merely a technical discipline, but also a cultural force capable of interpreting, questioning and transforming contemporary reality.

Taught entirely in English, the programme brings together critical thinking, cultural theory, research and creative practice to prepare professionals to push the boundaries of architecture and develop new forms of practice in fields such as curating, cultural mediation, communication, research and cultural production.

The Master’s in Cultural Studies in Architecture combines critical thinking, cultural theory and creative practice to explore new ways of understanding and practising architecture.

Inspired by the knowledge model of La Salle School of Architecture, which understands architecture as a balance between Design, Technology and Culture, the programme delves deeper into this final dimension to prepare professionals capable of interpreting, communicating and transforming architecture from a critical, humanistic and interdisciplinary perspective.

Through an interdisciplinary approach, the programme offers a broader understanding of the discipline: architecture not only as a built object, but as a cultural, social and territorial expression that plays a role in shaping identities, values and ways of life. Through research, critical analysis and experimentation, you will learn to interpret the historical, political, technological and cultural contexts that shape the built environment and to develop innovative responses to contemporary challenges.

Bringing together architecture, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, the arts and communication, the Master’s will enable you to generate knowledge and foster new forms of professional practice in areas such as architectural curating and mediation, spatial narratives, architectural communication, cultural strategies, applied research, heritage activation and artistic practices related to the built environment.

The programme is jointly delivered by the La Salle School of Architecture and the Faculty of Philosophy at La Salle - Ramon Llull University, creating a unique academic environment where humanistic reflection, applied research and architectural practice converge. This approach is further enriched through collaboration with cultural institutions across Europe, fostering knowledge exchange, international collaboration and the development of projects with cultural and social impact.

In addition, you will study in Barcelona, a living laboratory of architecture, culture and urban innovation that provides an exceptional setting in which to explore the relationships between heritage, public space, contemporary culture and social transformation.
