Description
The subject will introduce the student to the research management arena, getting him/her to know which are the main public research programs, how a research project is stated, how it is managed, where funding for research can be found and which are the main ways to get a return on investment for research projects. In addition to that, the student will be provided with an overview on R&D performance assessment and guidelines for a systematic approach to research and innovation.

Objectives

The main objectives of the subject are:

1. Sound understanding of the stakeholders and tasks involved in managing research projects
2. Knowledge of key research programs, funding sources and benefits for companies.
3. Criteria about the suitable ways to protect and valuate research outputs.
4. Guidelines for a systematic approach to research and innovation

v. Systematic approach to research and innovation.

Methodology

The methodology promotes active learning, combining individualized activities with group learning and interaction in the classroom and the virtual space (eCampus). The student is expected to participate in teamwork, oral presentations and discussions, as well as in individual reading and study.

Students will benefit from the contribution of professionals with wide experience in the topic, who will conduct several sessions during the course.
