This subject is part of the management module of the MITMA. The main goal of this module is to provide students with the capabilities to do research in the field of management focused on a technological perspective. Within this module, the course on IT Strategy allows for a wide view on the role that IT plays in firm strategy. This course provides a first look towards this research strand.

Objectives

At the end of the course, students should have acquired the following competencies:

- Understand the way ICT can impact successfully on organizations and on economic and social evolution and how this impact can be assessed.

- Know the extant theories to study how IT can change firm capabilities and consequently how can support firm strategy

- Be able to propose preliminary research opportunities on the organizational management of IT impact

- Acquire capabilities to communicate research information, either oral or written, in a clear, coherent and rigorous way.

Methodology

This course uses research readings to develop its contents. Readings are used to present the subjects and to discuss the main topics and conclusions.

Student's learning is based on an in depth reading of the papers and on a critical discussion with the rest of the group.
