Interior design is undergoing a profound transformation. The spaces we inhabit today demand professionals who can combine aesthetic sensitivity, strategic vision, and technological expertise to shape environments that connect with people and respond to contemporary challenges.

This Master's program is designed for architects, designers, and engineers who seek to specialize in interior architecture from a contemporary, critical, and innovative perspective. Through a multidisciplinary and hands-on approach, the program is structured around three key pillars: materiality as a technical and expressive language, experiential design as a driver of emotional connection with space, and emerging technologies as tools for creating interactive, efficient, and immersive environments.

Materiality: The program explores the development and application of new sustainable materials, covering techniques such as:

  • Biomimetic materials: Inspired by nature to optimize efficiency and sustainability.
  • Digital fabrication: 3D printing and robotics applied to interior architecture.
  • Smart and responsive materials: Surfaces that change based on light, temperature, or usage.
  • Waste repurposing for new materials: Research in upcycling and biofabrication.

Circularity and Sustainable Design: Strategies to minimize the environmental impact of projects, including:

  • Circular economy strategies: Reuse, modularity, and efficient disassembly.
  • Regenerative design: Spaces that not only reduce impact but create a positive environmental footprint.

Experiential Design and Interactive Spaces: Focusing on the emotional and sensory connection between spaces and users:

  • Neuroarchitecture: How design affects behavior and well-being.
  • Immersive spaces: Integration of lighting, sound, materials, and technology to generate unique experiences.
  • Innovative retail and hospitality: Designing commercial and hospitality spaces that adapt to real-time user needs.

Light & Art: The Role of Light and Art in Interior Architecture

  • Dynamic and interactive lighting: Sensor-controlled lighting, circadian lighting, and advanced LED solutions.
  • Digital and generative art: Integration of interactive art installations in commercial and residential spaces.
  • Projection mapping: Creating immersive experiences through video mapping and extended reality techniques.

Data Applications and New Technologies: Harnessing data and digitalization to optimize design and spatial personalization:

  • IoT (Internet of Things): Smart spaces that respond in real time to user needs.
  • Data-driven design: Using big data and behavioral analysis to optimize spatial efficiency.
  • Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR): Tools for prototyping, simulation, and project presentation

Throughout the course, students will work on real projects, collaborate with industry professionals, and be guided by a faculty team with strong academic and professional backgrounds. The goal is to empower each student to lead interior architecture projects from a comprehensive approach: creative, technical, and human.
