The Be an Architect in Barcelona course is a two-week workshop for you to imagine, design and build Barcelona, a city full of history and architectural wealth. The objective is that while you get ready to access your future studies in Architecture, you get to know Barcelona, enjoy its architecture and life on an international university campus.

You can choose to enroll just one week or both weeks. Week 1 of the course is global to all students and we will analyze the historical neighborhoods of the city of Barcelona, its architecture and its urbanism: Ciutat Vella, Gràcia, Sarrià and Sant Martí, visiting one of modern architecture’s jewel such as the Mies van der Rohe Pavillion in Barcelona, understanding modern architecture, its materiality and its spaces.”

In Week 2 we will analyze the neighborhood of the Eixample, the neighborhood that united all the other neighborhoods and contributed to the construction of the admired and wonderful city of Barcelona, recognized worldwide for its design and urban planning. We will also carry out, during this second week, an architectural project in the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion.

On the last day of the course there will be a presentation of the different proposals designed by the students. It is not necessary to bring any specific material to the campus during the course.

During the course, you will work individually and in groups to develop the projects, a perfect start to develop your personal portfolio of application to the university.

The Director of the Technical School of Architecture of La Salle (ETSALS), the Architect Josep Ferrando, will hold a keynote lecture on Barcelona. The rest of the sessions will be taught by university professors with the assistance of PhD and Master students, all of them architects and active working professionals.

The Summer School is offered 100% on-site modality and in English, so it is necessary to have an intermediate level to make the most of the experience and discuss with colleagues of different nationalities.
