Methodology

Total attendance hours: 50%, 18,5. ECTS
Total student work hours: 50%, 18,5. ECTS

Teaching-learning methodologic approach to meet objectives:
The methodology applied in this course separates classes in two types: theory classes and sessions oriented to the application of the knowledge acquired in the theory classes working and completing pre-diagnosis task.
1 Lectures
Covers theory concepts alternating with practical study cases through real examples with graphic documentation. Classes also cover knowledge related to typical damages found in buildings and their root cause.
2 Practical classes. Application of knowledge on a pre-diagnosis work.
Students working in groups will invest several hours planning, analyzing and solving questions that may arise when performing a pre-diagnosis task on a real building. Students are encouraged to interact in the theory presentation process, searching for a group solution for each of the practical cases presented

Subject attendance 6 credits/ 26 hours/credit = 156 hours
Semester attendance 19 weeks (17 lecture + 2 de exams)
Weekly attendance 135 hours/17 weeks = 8 hours/week.

CONCEPT Total hours
Exposition classes 30
Practical classes 30
Tutoring 8
Individual study 67

Total hours dedication, exams not included 135
Hours for exams preparation (2 x 9) 18
Horas exams 3

Evaluation

Exams: Ongoing written test during the duration of the course with public correction in class (20% of global score)
Reports/ group works: practical solving exercises. (20% global score).
Practical work with or without computer: computer aided representation of constructive systems. (20% global score).
Projects: Diverse construction solution proposals. (30% global score)
Attendance and participation in class (10% global score)

Students get theory classes combined with practical study cases that allow them to develop and acquire diagnosis skills for identifying pathologic processes, structural and non-structural. Students will work on a diagnosis Project identifying and diagnosing pathological processes, discussing, presenting findings and correcting in class having a proper development and validation
