Previous Knowledge

One of the objectives of the programme set out by `La Salle School of Architecture´ is that one of the projects carried out in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year course is continued in the following course: revising and finishing off construction details, installations etc. as a completed project. The students therefore have to apply the knowledge that they have acquired in various subjects to their own piece of work. Each one of these projects can be described as a small version of the `Final Year Project´ as the student learns to make use of the methodology and the techniques which s / he is in the process of learning.

Objectives

Graduates of our programme of 5th year Architectural Projects acquire the knowledge and develop the skills listed below:

Objective 1: The objective of the 5th year course is to study the realisation of the two completed projects to a degree described in the profession as the `Basic project.´

Contents

The student must opt for and complete one of the two projects which are proposed; one between September and December and a second project is carried out following the same procedure in the second term. Once the student has presented both projects, the Board then decides which of the two projects should be continued as the `Final Year Project´; having discussed the most important and most problematic areas of the project with the students with the objective being to aid the student in the development of the `End of degree Project.´

Methodology

Given the different strategies employed in the architecture of different types of project and the level of improvisation involved, from the very recognition of the site and its initial analysis to all the information compiled through lectures, workshops, models, quick exercises and debates, problem-solving exercises carried out in the classroom or at home, the methodology of this course can be described as very diverse, flexible and varied.
