La Salle-URL presents the degrees of the future with AI as the protagonist at the Saló de l'Ensenyament

The training event was held from March 26 to 30 at the Fira de Barcelona exhibition center in Montjuïc.

The Montjuïc site of Fira de Barcelona is hosting a new edition of the Saló de l’Ensenyament, the most important event on educational guidance in Catalonia, between March 26 and 30. La Salle Campus Barcelona, founding member of the Universitat Ramon Llull, has been present with a stand in the area designated for universities to provide information to pre-university students about the degree courses offered, as well as all the services, entities and activities that are part of comprehensive education and campus life.

A knowledge ecosystem that leads the study and research of AI

In a global context of full technological revolution in which the development of artificial intelligence is shaping a new era of profound changes, La Salle-URL reinforces AI as one of the central axes of its training, addressing it both from its technical aspect and from its ethical and social application. The campus has an Observatory on Artificial Intelligence that leads projects and training on the challenges and opportunities of AI, studying its current state and future trends. In addition, La Salle-URL consolidates the Degree in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, taught 100% in English and born in the 2023-24 academic year, to train specialists with ethical and humanistic sensitivity.

Along these lines, one of the novelties of the course is the birth of the Interactive Arts & Science Laboratory (IASlab), a space where digital creativity, immersiveness, AI, acoustics and robotics, among other disciplines, converge, reinforcing the campus's commitment to transdisciplinary research and artistic creation. This laboratory brings together students from the Degree in Digital Arts, the Degree in Animation & VFX and the Degree in Design and Creation of Interactive Products, studies that combine technology and creativity.

A unique transdisciplinary campus in the city of Barcelona

All degrees that integrate creativity and technology are the result of La Salle-URL's long experience in university training and research of excellence in technology and engineering, an area in which it is a benchmark with studies in ICT, Audiovisual, Multimedia and Computer Engineering. The educational excellence of these degrees is reflected in accreditations such as ABET, a worldwide distinction that this year has endorsed the solidity and prestige of the Degree in Computer Engineering. The vocation for innovation in the field of engineering has led La Salle-URL to teach the Degree in Health Engineering for a few years now, studies that combine engineering, health sciences, management and innovation.

La Salle-URL trains experts in seven areas of knowledge from its four centers: the School of Engineering, the School of Architecture, the International School of Commerce and Digital Economy and the Faculty of Philosophy. The Degree in Architecture combines internationalization, practical learning, design, culture and technology. The Business programs focus on digitalization and innovation, allowing students to grow in global skills with study trips to innovation hubs in Asia, Oceania and North America. Humanism is one of the foundations of the campus. In this vein, the double Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics trains in critical thinking from a current perspective.

Students and researchers on the campus work transdisciplinaryly, learning from each other, to provide innovative solutions to the challenges of society today and in the future. Consequently, undergraduate students from all areas of knowledge share the subject Thinking and Creativity, a differential subject on the campus and core for all training courses, which reinforces students' skills in ethics, responsibility and social impact, promoting transversal work on projects associated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Internationality, entrepreneurship and contact with companies

La Salle-URL, a leader in studies and research in artificial intelligence and with technology and humanism in its DNA, supports students in their personal and professional growth through a comprehensive education, equipping them with the essential skills and values to face a constantly evolving digital world, and accompanying them throughout all stages of their life cycle. Currently, nearly 8,000 students study on campus, more than 36% of whom are international from up to 100 different nationalities. In addition, the employability rate of graduating students is 97% and, faithful to the mission of promoting accessible and quality education, around 50% of first-year students receive scholarships each year.

Another of the axes that underpins the campus is entrepreneurship, understood as an attitude to life integrated into the Lasallian DNA that allows for a positive impact on society. In fact, La Salle-URL is the first university center in Catalonia to receive the ACEEU Entrepreneurial University seal and has an innovation park, La Salle Technova, which promotes programs for startups. And with the aim of continuing to connect students with companies, the campus is working to consolidate the Corporate Board Council, the La Salle-URL Business Council that promotes strategic, business and socio-economic interaction between university and company.
