Currently, the AECO sector is the most important in the economy of the European Union (EU) representing 10% of GDP (gross domestic product), representing 5% in Spain.
However, compared to other economic sectors, the construction industry is one of the most backward in terms of fragmentation, productivity, and innovation strategies, without an adequate record of the knowledge acquired and with project closures carried out through endless litigation. All these unfavorable situations have a direct impact on the end users affecting their interests in economy, safety, and quality.
There may not be an industry with more variables and active stakeholders than the construction sector. For all these reasons, the field of construction projects is one of the most successful fields in the application of Project Management technologies.
