Xavi Bové, new director of the Degree in Digital Arts

The renowned visual composer and artistic director studied at La Salle-URL

Xavi Bové, renowned visual composer and artistic director, has been appointed as new director of the Degree in Digital Arts at La Salle-URL and takes over from Oriol Pastor, who has been head of the studies since 2019, when the specialty was inaugurated. The appointment is a new step in the consolidation of the degree, which during this academic year will celebrate the first graduation of digital artists educated at La Salle-URL. Xavi Bové, who already knows the degree as a teacher, will work together with the other two key figures in the area: Gabriel Fernández, academic director of the Animation and Digital Arts area, and Gloria Fernández, coordinator of the Degree in Digital Arts.

Graduated in Telecommunications Engineering with a specialty in Image and Sound from La Salle-URL, Xavier Bové combines his teaching side with a successful professional life. He has directed and worked on different projects internationally and has participated in light and mapping festivals around the world. In addition, he has been awarded several awards for his long career in music, having led more than 100 live productions in spaces such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu and at festivals such as Sónar in Barcelona. His work covers a wide range of fields and techniques, through light, video, sound and interactivity, and shows a special interest in the concepts of time, memory and perception of the human being and its relationship with the environment.

Xavi Bové takes over from Oriol Pastor, a key figure in the definition and creation of the Degree in Digital Arts at La Salle-URL, to whom the institution thanks "his dedication and good work" and highlights that "thanks to his knowledge and involvement a risky and stimulating bet has been successfully carried out." In this sense, the studies have achieved the highest number of new students in their third year of life, data that demonstrates the interest in studying in a sector that is growing unstoppably. The Degree in Digital Arts at La Salle-URL prepares the artists of the present and the future, combining technological knowledge with artistic creativity. Oriol Pastor will continue to collaborate with La Salle-URL as a teacher and external advisor.
