La Salle-URL takes part in Barcelona Games World, the largest video games fair in Barcelona

Barcelona Games World (BGW) is a fair dedicated to the video games industry organised by Fira Barcelona. This year will be the third edition and will be held from 29 November to 2 December, bringing together the leading names in the sector to present their main new offerings of the year. Video game enthusiasts will be able to try out and experience innovations with some of the most anticipated titles of the season that have not yet been released on show. BGW will take place for the first time in the Gran Vía Fira de Barcelona venue, and will see more than 194 big industry names taking part, including Bandai Namco, Capcom, Koch, Nintendo, PlayStation, Square Enix, Warner Bros Interactive and Xbox, as well as prominent tech firms such as Asus, HP Intel and HTC Vive, among others.

The fair will offer more than 80 activities of all kinds to create an experience that offers far more than just new games. La Salle-URL will be there with a stand (Pavilion 2, Street C, Stand 347) where we will be showing off the various educational programmes in this field. Related master’s include our Master's in Advanced Videogames that began this October, as well as the most important new addition, the new Master’s in Animation that will be launched in September 2019. As for our undergraduate degrees, you can find out more about the Degree in Animation, a pioneering programme in Barcelona that will see its first graduates this year, as well as the new Digital Arts Degree that will begin in September 2019.

Experts from La Salle-URL will also be offering a variety of talks and conferences. On Thursday at 11 a.m., lecturer José Luis Molero will offer a talk on “The World of Sound and OST in Video Games”. On Friday at 10.30 a.m., the coordinator of La Salle-URL Master’s in Videogames, Alun Thomas Evans, will be talking about how game engines work; and at 12 midday, Iñigo Pradera, director of Business Services at La Salle-URL, will be giving a talk titled “From Super Mario to League of Legends: A look at the video games industry”.
