La Salle-URL presents its Summer School courses focused on architecture, robotics, animation and management

2-4 week university and pre-university programmes available

La Salle Campus Barcelona-URL is launching the latest edition of its Summer School Barcelona programme, with courses available in four areas: architecture, robotics, animation and management. Pre-university students can choose between the four different fields, while university students can choose from two programmes: the Summer Architecture Workshop and the "Doing Business across Europe" programme in collaboration with two European universities.

This year the new arrival is "Doing Business across Europe", which is carried out in collaboration with the Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences of Germany and the Windesheim University of Applied Sciences of Holland.

The La SalleArchitecture  Workshop is now in its 10th year and this year it is focusing on the Barcelona of the future and the 22@ innovation district, meeting a real need in the municipality. Under the title Thinking Lab: Projecting the Barcelona of the future 22@ 2030, students will reflect and project the Barcelona of the future in a collaboration between La Salle Campus Barcelona and Barcelona City Council. The final reflections and projects will be handed over to the city and will form the basis for reflection on future actions to be carried out in the city. The project students will develop will be a complex one, meeting all the urban, cultural, functional and formal demands, as well as the construction, installation and structural requirements. The knowledge students will gain in tackling a comprehensive, multi-faceted urban problem, as is the case of the Barcelona 22@ study, will provide the student with powerful tools for analysis and projection that will leave them perfectly placed to take on similar programmes in their cities of origin. The workshop will begin on 25 June and will last one month.

Complete pre-university programme

The pre-university programme which is run entirely at the La Salle-URL Barcelona Campus is aimed at young people from all over the world between the ages of 15 and 18. Courses are run entirely in English from 1 to 13 July on the Campus. In addition to accommodation on Campus, they also include a whole series of social and cultural activities to fill students’ free time and weekends.

In the Animation course, Discover Animation and VFX, students will learn the basic principles to create a 3D character, including aspects such as modelling, animation and lighting. During the course, students will learn the basic aspects of 3D modelling and animation with the help of tools such as Maya and Zbrush, and students will create their own 3D character, such as those appearing in cartoons, 3D movies and video games.

In the field of architecture, Be an Architect in Barcelona will be a practical experience to help students delve into the architecture of Barcelona. It is specially designed for high school students who are considering studying Architecture or Design. The content of the course is based on a practical exercise that will be the focus of the entire programme: re-imagining the famous Barcelona Pavilion by Mies van der Rohe. Classes will provide students with the opportunity to learn more about space design, practical skills such as sizing and modelling, and basic history and theory that will serve as excellent groundwork for any pre-university student interested in architecture and design.

How can I make a robot social? How can I make it feel emotions? How can I feed it information through social network connectivity? In this engineering course focused on robotics, the challenge will be to identify an unresolved or poorly resolved problem in our society, see how it is solved in nature, and design a robot to solve it. To do so, students will design a robot prototype using Design Thinking techniques and following Human Factor engineering principles. The first concept prototype using rapid prototyping resources and materials.

In the field of management, the Business for Young Leaders Pre-University Course is specially designed for high school students interested in the fields of business management, innovation, new technologies, digitalisation, sports management and entrepreneurship and who are considering taking their professional careers in one of these directions. Students will learn techniques required in leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and more, applying new technologies in the business world and preparing for the challenges of the future.
