La Salle - Universitat Ramon Llull’s Social Board Council turns dialogue with the third sector into new opportunities for collaboration

During the General Council meeting, the Social Board Council reviews the work carried out so far and defines the priorities for the academic year to connect the capabilities of its member organisations with those of the campus

The Social Board Council (SBC) of La Salle - Universitat Ramon Llull begins its second year with the aim of turning the relationships built and knowledge shared between the campus and the third sector into new initiatives and joint projects. During the General Council meeting, held on campus, member organisations and the campus reviewed the Council’s first year of activity and set the priorities for the year ahead, with a clear focus on connecting needs, knowledge and capabilities to address social challenges.

Gmà. Joan Carles Jara, Co-Chair of the SBC: “The campus and the organisations are communities of people who build opportunities, hope and a future every day. We do not build alone; fraternity is an active commitment. Through the Council, we want to develop practical and creative responses to the major challenges we share, moving forward together.”

The meeting also provided an opportunity to welcome ADER Foundation and Fundación Specialisterne, which have joined the Council, and to share the main areas of work for the academic year. These include new avenues for collaboration between the SBC and La Salle - Universitat Ramon Llull’s Coporate Board Council; the participation of the third sector in Talent Week 2027; and initiatives that connect the campus’s capabilities with social needs, such as the project developed with Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu on the use of AI to support the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder in adults. The new Technical Office for University Volunteering was also presented during the session.

Francina Alsina, Co-Chair of the SBC: “The Council is a shared responsibility between La Salle-URL and all its member organisations. We especially value this approach of supporting without overstepping and building together.”

In this context, one year after its launch, the Social Board Council aims to translate this work into an opportunity map that provides a more detailed picture of what each organisation does, what knowledge and experience it can contribute, and which other stakeholders it works with. This information will help connect needs and capabilities and support the development of new joint projects.

Josep M. Santos, General Director of La Salle-URL: “For us, as a university campus, maintaining an ongoing dialogue with our wider community is essential. We want to raise awareness among our students and work together through this space, with the aim of making a difference and helping to transform our environment.”
