ASSESSMENT AND GRADING CRITERIA

The recommended length of the TFM is 60 to 100 pages. 3 copies of the TFM in hard copy will be handed in at the Secretary’s Office of the Faculty. The submission will also be communicated by email to the Master’s Coordinator, attaching the same document in PDF format. The Coordinator will confirm to the student proper reception of the document, once they have received the final approval from their Tutor.

The deadlines for the submission of the TFM for each of the sessions and the dates of the corresponding oral presentations will be established in the Faculty’s Course Calendar. The Coordinator will convene the examining board, made up of two lecturers from the Faculty of Philosophy-URL, preferably with teaching experience in the Master’s Degree, and will formally communicate the date and venue of the oral defence.

The final assessment will correspond to the TFM tutor (25%) and the Examining Board (50% from the work and 25% from the defence). The Tutor will record the assessment of the work in a TFM assessment report for the tutor, which will be signed and submitted to the Master’s Coordinator prior to the oral presentation of the work.

The oral defence of the paper will be brief (about 30 minutes). The student will justify the work, and will answer any questions posed by the examining board. The examining board will record the assessment by signing the Minutes of the TFM Defence in which the marks awarded by the examining board will be recorded, according to the established weightings.

The Master’s Coordinator will receive both the tutor’s and the examining board’s assessment report and, in accordance with the corresponding weightings, will formally record the grades and calculate the final grade for the dissertation, which will be sent to the academic secretary’s office and will be communicated to the student after the oral defence through the academic management system.
