Previous Knowledge

Prior knowledge of AUTOCAD is considered adequate. However, all the basic contents necessary for the subject are refreshed.

Objectives

3. Skills/Competences that the subject wants to develop:

Interpersonal Competences:
IT2 - Teamwork

Systemic Competences:
CS 1 - Ability to apply knowledge in practice

Instrumental Competences:
IS 2 - Ability to organize and plan
IS 8 - Information management skills (ability to search and analyze information from diverse sources)

SPECIFIC COMPETENCES for Architecture
- Ability to:
o Apply graphic procedures to the representation of spaces and objects
o Conceive and represent the visual attributes of objects and master the proportion and techniques of drawing, including computer science
[Competences corresponding to group A of White Paper skills, A6 (GRAPHIC IDEATION) and A7 (SPACE REPRESENTATION)]

- Adequate knowledge and applied to the architecture and urban planning of:
o Spatial representation systems
o The analysis and theory of the form and laws of visual perception
o Metric and projective geometry
o The techniques of graphic lifting in all its phases

4. Learning objectives of the subject:

a. Know how to organize a project with various files with spatial contents.
b. Link alphanumeric data information to graphic elements
c. Consult and generate thematic maps for queries based on graphic and alphanumeric data

Contents

5. Thematic blocks in which the contents of the subject are organized:

The objective is:

PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH TOOLS THAT ALLOW THEY TO REPRESENT URBAN PROJECTS BOTH AT THE LEVEL OF MANAGEMENT AND DECISION-MAKING.

Geographic information systems are widely used in urban representation and allow to simplify any plan for decision making. By linking DATA from a table to a point, a line or a polygon, it is possible to highlight the elements that meet any search criteria automatically.

For example, if we want to find the plots of a certain area, which are buildable, and of public ownership, making the query all of them would be shaded in 1 or 2 seconds. That is, WE CAN REPRESENT THE SPACE WITH CHARACTERISTICS OF DIFFERENT COLOR, THICKNESS, SHADING FOR EACH PROPERTY OF THE OBJECT IN AN INFINITE WORKING TIME, improving the shading processes that are currently followed in matters such as Urbanism, where we work with Photoshop instead of with the right system.

Methodology

6. Methodological approach to teaching / learning to achieve the objectives:

An explanation of the functions of the system based on AutoCAD MAP (free license for students) is carried out in the first 5-6 work sessions (2h30m, each session).
The next 5-6 sessions are in workshop mode, where students in groups approach an area of a specific city to work, identify and represent a problem and its solutions, under the teacher's supervision.

Practical classes: 50%
Tutored workshop classes: 50%
Exercises at home: Not necessary
Individual study: Not necessary
Tutorials: At the request / availability of the teacher (online request)
Total hours of dedication outside exams: 100% (all practical work)
Exam preparation: 0%
Exams: 0%

Evaluation

7. Evaluation of the level of achievement of the objectives:

The evaluation system is divided as follows:

- 20% assistance
- 20% personal assessment teacher of use explanations class.
- 60% group work

Evaluation Criteria

About 60% of group work:
1.- Creation of initial topologies (10%)
2.- Definition of a problem / project with clear representable objectives (20%)
3.- Work support document based on the tools explained (30%)
4.- Resolution of the problem / project through consultations and topological representations (40%)

Basic Bibliography

8. Sources of basic information. Bibliography:
Digital tutorials provided via Estudy (Spanish and English).
