La Salle Campus Barcelona, founding member of Universitat Ramon Llull, begins the 2025-2026 academic year with more than 870 new undergraduate students and with the consolidation of artificial intelligence as one of its strategic axes in university teaching, research, and knowledge transfer. The number of new students confirms the growth of the campus, which in the past academic year reached the highest number of students across all its programs, surpassing 8,500 enrolled. Among the new students, 34% are international and are joining a diverse community that this year includes 116 different nationalities. With the new academic year, the educational motto for this year is presented: ‘From commitment to commitment’, a call to the campus community to persevere through both small and great actions, seeking personal growth and positive impact on society.

The strategic axis of AI and key anniversaries

In a global context of full technological revolution, La Salle-URL reinforces AI as one of the central axes of its education, addressing it both from its technical aspect and from its ethical and social application. The campus has an Artificial Intelligence Observatory and a Bachelor in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, taught 100% in English and launched in the 2024-25 academic year to train specialists with ethical and humanistic sensitivity. In this regard, work is currently underway on the launch of the La Salle Artificial Intelligence Hub (LAIA Hub), an emerging laboratory for applied research in artificial intelligence, and the consolidation of the Interactive Arts & Science Laboratory (IASlab), a space inaugurated last academic year dedicated to transdisciplinary research and artistic creation.

This year, several important anniversaries are also being celebrated in some of the campus programs, starting with the most recent one, the 10th anniversary of the Degree in Animation & VFX, the first university degree in animation in Catalonia.

The Welcome Week, the first contact of new undergraduate students

During the week prior to the start of classes, first-year undergraduate students participate in Welcome Week, a first introduction in which they are welcomed with a series of activities to meet new classmates, professors, and educators, while also familiarizing themselves with classes, laboratories, and the rest of the campus facilities. In addition, within the framework of Welcome Week, undergraduate students visit the facilities of leading companies and institutions in their respective sectors to learn how they work and the connection between university, business, and civil society. At the same time, during the first days, students are introduced to the associations and clubs that complement campus life with activities, cultural events, celebrations, and festivities that strengthen the sense of belonging to the La Salle-URL community.
