Project Management

Description
The subject of Project Management gives a practical view of the profession of a Project Manager, showing the basic concepts, tools and techniques for project planning and monitoring, as well as the skills and competencies required by this profession. At the end of the course, students should be able to define a project, a WBS, a schedule, a budget, and have insights into risk plans. Within the framework of the subject, the different current perspectives of Project Management are also worked on, thus introducing us to the world of Agile methodologies.

Contents

Topic 1: Start of the project, strategy and stakeholders

This topic works on how to start a project framed in the situation of the company by understanding the context of the company in order to align the decisions that will be taken within the framework of the project. At this point, we introduce the stakeholders: who they are, how we analyze them and, above all, how we manage them.

Topic 2: Project management based on the PMBok

The world of project management has changed a lot in recent years, especially because different methodologies have adapted to different sectors and different types of projects. In this topic we see the planning phase of a project as recommended by the PMI (Project Management Institute). We go through the basics of this phase: defining scope, time, costs, and risk analysis.

Topic 3: Project management based on Agile methodology

Introduction to the Agile methodology, how we treat the concepts of: scope, time, cost and risks, from this methodology.

Methodology

The teaching methodology used in the course combines:
- Seminars to explain the concepts
- Exercises to work on the concepts
- Projects, to be able to apply the knowledge to a real-life situation.

Evaluation

The evaluation system consists of the following parts:

- Project 1 (predictive methodology)
- Project 2 (agile methodology)
- Follow-up
- Class activities
- Exam

Evaluation Criteria

- Project 1 (predictive methodology): 25%.
- Project 2 (agile methodology): 25%
- Follow-up: 15%
- Class activities: 5%.
- Exam: 30%
