Objectives

Students who complete our course on MATERIALS: REGULATIONS AND CONTROL acquires the knowledge and develops the skills listed below:

1. To learn about the latest innovative materials in the profession of Architecture and Technical Architecture.
2. To use new construction techniques and tools.
3. An understanding of all the contemporary aspects related to the practice of this profession along with an understanding of the need to maintain a continuous form of training.

Contents

Theory: Choosing materials, properties, behaviour about:
Resistance.
Durability.
Recycling.
Erosion.
Fire resistance.
Acoustic, Thermic and Luminal Transmission.

Practice 1: Physical and chemical properties of materials.
Practice 2: Water, arid material and agglomerates.
Practice 3: Soft concrete: testing.
Practice 4: Hard concrete: testing.
Practice 5: Naturals stone.
Practice 6: Woods, welded materials.

Methodology

- The student should demonstrate ability to search for innovative materials (D).
Objective 2:
- The student should demonstrate ability to use new techniques (G).
Objective 3:
- The student should demonstrate that s/he has learnt of all contemporary aspects related to the practise of his/her profession, as well as the need for a continued form of training (A+J+L).
