With the aim of continuing to advance in the definition of a District University Project, on July 8 and 9, La Salle Campus Madrid hosts an intercampus meeting in which the La Salle university campuses of Madrid and Barcelona participate, under the direction of Brother Jesús Félix Martínez, Director of the Network of La Salle Educational Works in Spain and Portugal (Arlep District), who is accompanied by Brother Julio González, who will succeed him in responsibility starting in September.
All the Sector Network directorates that make up the Arlep District have been invited to the meeting, in addition to the management teams of the University Campuses of Madrid and Barcelona. In total, 38 participants who have worked to define the bases of a district university project that includes a master plan of coordinated action. A common space continues to be built, in a climate of dialogue, in which the importance of identifying the horizon of said project is highlighted in addition to sharing practices and knowledge that make its growth stronger and more solid.
According to Brother Jesús Félix Martínez: “We look beyond what we now enjoy as a university offer to dream of a project that offers a better response to people and society as a whole.” It is worth highlighting the interventions of Brother Carlos Gabriel Gómez Restrepo, Vicar General of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, who from Rome has contributed the Lasallian vision of the university; and Brother Andrés Govela, president of the International Association of La Salle Universities (IALU), a global network of university institutions, which has reinforced the message about the identity of Lasallian universities.
The International Association of La Salle Universities (IALU), made up of 64 university campuses, aims to continue being a benchmark in social innovation, in quality accessible education and in the training of highly qualified and committed agents of transformation. At the event were also heard the voices of experts such as Phillipe Choquet, General Director of UniLaSalle and President of the Federation of Higher Education Centers in France (FESIC), who shared his experience on the connection between French centers of diverse idiosyncrasies; Francesc Torralba, a renowned philosopher and theologian, who has pointed out what the keys should be for a university proposal of Christian inspiration; or Josep Mª Garrell, president of the Association of European Universities (EUA), who has defined the current university framework at the European level.
The General Director of La Salle Campus Barcelona, Josep M. Santos, assures that “as part of the IALU, the project that the Barcelona and Madrid campuses are developing jointly wants to respond to the present and future challenges of our society, especially in the educational field, in a world increasingly in need of justice, peace and sustainability; and in collaboration with the rest of La Salle educational centers in the world.” For his part, the president of La Salle Campus Madrid, Brother Maxi Nogales, points out that this university meeting continues to take steps so that “the management teams of the Campuses and those of the Sector directorates mark a path full of enthusiasm and collaboration , reflecting our commitment to teamwork and shared vision.”
