Jorge Egea (1975)a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona (2005) with the doctoral thesis ¿Modeling, Creation and Knowledge. Spiritus Classicus.¿ From 2003 to 2020, he was a professor in the Department of Sculpture at the University of Barcelona. He is currently a professor at La Salle-Ramon Llull University and president of the Catalan Institute for Research in Sculpture (ICRE). He has collaborated as a visiting professor at various European universities and at the California Sculpture Academy (USA).
The main objectives of his sculpture are matter, corporeality, and form, with the human body as an essential space for the expression of the spiritual and the transcendent. The classical sense of modeling is a constant in his research and artistic experimentation. This has led him to develop various studies and interventions related to collections of ancient sculpture in several European museums (National Archaeological Museum of Naples, British Museum, National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona, Badalona Museum, Frederic Marès Museum in Barcelona).
