La Salle-URL strengthens its cooperative relationship with universities in several Asian countries

Campus representatives visit university centers in China, South Korea, Vietnam, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Singapore

Academic and institutional representatives from La Salle Campus Barcelona, ​​a founding member of the Universitat Ramon Llull, have travelled to different Asian countries to explore new avenues for collaboration and cooperation, as well as to strengthen relationships and shared work strategies with other university centres. A trip framed within the internationalisation strategy of La Salle Campus Barcelona to encourage the growth of students in global competences.

This has been a great opportunity to exchange experiences, knowledge and work methodologies to develop joint projects with internationally renowned universities. In addition, the visit of representatives from La Salle Campus Barcelona to other university centres allows them to explore mobility and student exchange programmes, favouring the diversity and internationality of all the campuses. It is worth noting that this trip has also allowed them to visit La Salle universities and consolidate relationships within a global network such as the International Association of Lasallian Universities (IALU).

Representing the campus were Josep M. Santos, General Director of La Salle Campus Barcelona; Guiomar Corral, Director of the La Salle Digital Engineering School (ETSELS); and Víctor Alves, Senior International Relations Officer of La Salle Campus Barcelona.

The following universities were visited during the trip:

  • University of Electronic Science and Technology (UESTC): In Chengdu (China), institutional representatives have discussed research exchanges, the potential of master's programs for UESTC students and future study trips for Business and Artificial Intelligence students, including the possibility of a double degree in the fields of Business and Engineering.
  • Konkuk University: At this meeting, an agreement has been signed that will pave the way for collaboration in areas such as student exchanges, study trips, summer schools, double degrees in engineering and master's programs.
  • Sogang University: The visit to this university center has allowed us to meet Daniel Soler, a computer engineering student from La Salle-URL who is currently on an exchange program at this university.
  • RMIT University: In Vietnam, a visit has taken place to RMIT University to participate in the RMIT Partner Day 2024. Representatives from La Salle-URL have visited the facilities, toured the campus and attended the Global Experience Fair with other international universities.
  • Hang Seng University: This young institution is accredited by AACSB, a leading business accreditation body. The purpose of the visit was to formalize an agreement between the two institutions that includes student, faculty and research exchange initiatives.
  • City University of Hong Kong: This university hosted a meeting with Mr. Lester Huang, Vice President of the City University of Hong Kong, who had previously visited La Salle Campus Barcelona, ​​thus strengthening the relationship between the two institutions.
  • La Salle College in Hong Kong: At La Salle College in Hong Kong, La Salle-URL participated in the 55th anniversary of Chan Sui Ki (La Salle), collaborating with Br. Dennis Magbanua and Br. Iñigo Riola to strengthen ties with Lasallian institutions in the region.
  • De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde: In the Philippines, the first visit was to De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, where opportunities were explored to improve academic collaboration through programs in Digital Arts and Creative Technologies.
  • De La Salle University Manila: At this university center, discussions have focused on joint research projects and faculty exchange programs.
  • De La Salle University – Dasmariñas: The debate between institutional representatives has addressed the Summer Schools in AI and Architecture. There has also been a meeting of La Salle-URL students who are currently on exchange at De La Salle College of Saint Benilde and Dasmariñas.
  • De La Salle Health Medical Institute: Taking advantage of the trip to the region, campus representatives have visited the De La Salle Health Medical Institute to meet with Bro. Dan Sanding and discuss opportunities for collaborative research and strategies to address challenges in the fields of health and technology.
  • De La Salle College of the Arts: This visit has highlighted collaboration with the IALU network and interest in developing joint academic activities in the arts through strategic alliances.
  • National University of Singapore (NUS): NUS, a top 10 university in the world accredited by QS rankings, hosted campus representatives to discuss collaboration with the School of Computing and projects such as study tours, student exchanges, research collaboration, PhD programmes and faculty exchanges. In addition, a possible collaboration at the master's level with the School of Arts, Philosophy and Economics was discussed.
  • Singapore Management University: At SMU, topics discussed included the future study tour for 2026 and a visit to the SMU Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, known for helping innovators build their projects and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset.
