The Barcelona Cibersecurity Congress, one of the main world congresses on cybersecurity, celebrates its fourth edition between January 31 and February 2 at the Fira de Barcelona. The congress, which has the participation of La Salle-URL as the only ambassador university, will serve to reflect on the latest developments in the sector and to discuss its growing importance and its key role in responding to many of the challenges of the interconnected and technological society of the present and the future.
The title of this year's edition is 'The path to security', which indicates what will be the central theme that will be debated during the three days of the congress: the need to advocate for the increase of security levels in the industry to minimize cyberattacks. Some thirty companies will show solutions to protect against malware, safeguard data, improve recovery time and strengthen confidence in the product. Likewise, workshops will be held in the area of activities and experts from all over the world will give presentations on topics related to cybersecurity.

Among the various sessions, talks and round tables, on Tuesday 31 the presentation 'Never negotiate with criminals! Insights about ransomware tactics used with victims in the negotiations' will be given by Marc Rivero, coordinator of the Master in Cybersecurity at La Salle-URL and Senior Researcher at Kaspersky. The session will reflect on RaaS (Ransomware as a Service) operations and the tactics that allow cybercriminals, through chat platforms, to negotiate with victims.
The Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress is organized by Fira de Barcelona and the Catalan Cybersecurity Agency (ACC) and is held together with the IoT Solutions World Congress, the international event dedicated to the transformation of the industry through disruptive technologies.
