La Salle-URL expands its computer training offer with 5 specialized degrees

At the moment, technological profiles are in high demand and a large number of companies of all types and sizes are looking for professionals with high skills who are capable of developing projects in these areas.
La Salle-URL responds to the job market with a wide range of training in this area with five degrees: Computer Engineering, International Computer Engineering, Telematics Engineering, ICT Organisation Engineering and a 3-year degree in Software Application Techniques. This training is thus adapted to the different interests and needs of students who wish to dedicate themselves professionally to this area.

Guiomar Corral, Vice-Dean and Director of Undergraduate Engineering Programmes at La Salle-URL, comments that "companies are clearly asking for technological profiles that can cope with the continuous changes, and not only in companies in this sector, but in general, since the digital transformation is coming and will do so even more in all areas of activity". "In Barcelona specifically, there is a great demand for these professionals with high technical knowledge but who have other skills such as teamwork, critical analysis, capacity to adapt, etc. Our students are very well prepared in this sense because we work with them both inside and outside the classroom. I believe that it is also a differential fact for working in this type of company, many multinationals or startups, that De La Salle students have been trained in a multicultural environment and with international teaching staff", Corral adds.

Computer studies for all needs

In addition to the traditional Degree in Computer Engineering, you can also take International Computer Engineering, which was launched this year. This degree is the only 100% English language program in Barcelona that provides the knowledge and skills needed to meet the new demands of the global economy in the IT sector, and includes two international stages that bring the real experience of the world's culture and economy closer to the real world, leading the "anytime, anyplace" digital revolution. The professionals who will emerge from these studies will be engineers who will have a very active part in the cloud computing, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence revolution.

One of the most differentiating degrees is Engineering in ICT Management (OTIC), which was launched throughout Catalonia in La Salle-URL and which this year has been five years old. This is a transversal engineering where the student achieves both the engineering skills and those associated with the management of technology companies, thanks to a strong management training. Guiomar Corral comments that "this exit profile fills a very large gap in this area. This winning combination of engineering and management enables our students to work in technology companies, where they are able to integrate the advantages of new technologies into innovative management, in the current and future global and technological context". In addition, it is also a bet to grow from La Salle since the next course will take this degree of international OTIC being 100% in English. This same field that combines technology and management is completed with a double degree, also in English, which combines International Computer Engineering and Management of Business and Technology that allows the two official degrees to be obtained in 5.5 years and to have a global training in two of the areas of greatest growth projection. The objective of this degree is to provide the company with people with a very unique professional profile that facilitates their rapid incorporation into the world of work.

Another of the degrees is Telematics (Networks and Internet Technologies) which trains in future Internet networks and technologies, with both telecommunications and computer concepts, and which covers critical aspects such as cybersecurity, cloud computing, Smart Cities and Internet of Things.

Finally, the Degree in Software Applications Techniques, which was launched this academic year 2017-18 and was the first three-year La Salle-URL program, also stands out. These studies focus on methodological, technical and technological issues of information technology from a very practical point of view, with output profiles related to the development of mobile applications, web creation, systems administration, technical support and digital marketing. It offers the opportunity to develop comprehensive projects based on real and current cases with a very practical and professional approach to have the ability to apply this knowledge immediately in the world of work.
