THE GOVERNMENT HAS AWARDED THE JAUME VICENS VIVES 2019 AWARD FOR QUALITY TEACHING TO THE MASTER’S DEGREE IN TEACHER TRAINING BY LA SALLE-URL AND BLANQUERNA-URL.

At the official opening ceremony of the 2019-2020 academic year for the Catalan university system, the Government handed out the Jaume Vicens Vives awards for university teaching quality, one of which was received by the Master’s Degree in Teacher Training at Ramon Llull University, by La Salle-URL and Blanquerna-URL.

The award, which also comes with a 20,000-euro prize, was one of three collective prizes handed out celebrating projects for innovation and improvement in teaching. The master’s was celebrated as an example of an active, interdisciplinary learning model, promoting innovation in teaching and comprehensive competence-based assessment through specific contributions to the master's specialities, such as project-based cooperative learning, the creation of multilingual paradigms and the introduction of ICT and learning and knowledge technologies. This prize has only been granted on two occasions since the awards were first created in 2006.

This master's degree has been running for over 10 years, led by a Master’s directive team formed by Josep Campos and Xavi Canaleta – who were preceded by Pau López Vicente and Maria González-Davies-, and have lead by their own example in teacher training. It offers a high level of coordination between the three specialities offered (Technology, Physical Education and English), and the programme is well known as a leader in organisation and development, and is accredited as the best Official Master’s Degree in Teacher Training in Catalan universities by the AQU, and the second best master’s degree in education in the El Mundo 2018 and 2019 Rankings.
