Double Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and Philosophy

Understand today's challenges through a philosophical, political and economic lens, earn two degrees and prepare to lead change.

Aesthetics

Description:

The course begins with the presentation of Aesthetics as a philosophical discipline, its origins, fundamental themes, and its impact on the discussion about Modernity. It then explores the role of Aesthetics and artistic creation in some key trajectories of contemporary thought. From there, the question "What is aesthetic experience?" will be posed, starting with its definition and intentional planes as it has developed throughout the History of Thought and Art. The course will conclude by reflecting on the meaning and historical function of Art, aesthetic experience, and artistic will: its truth, meaning, and purpose in existence, society, and History, addressing contemporary discussions on the function of Art and its various crises and transformations in modernity.

Objectives:

The approach to the aesthetic question within the framework of Philosophy and its history is an essential element, both for thoroughly understanding the nature of contemporary Philosophy and for rigorously addressing the reflection on aesthetic experience, Art, and other related issues such as creation or the meaning of artistic expression in history. Although Aesthetics is not directly linked to politics and economics, as is the case with Ethics or Political Philosophy, this course provides an expansion of thought to other forms and needs of human expression, while also engaging with substantive problems of contemporary thought itself.
