DIGITAL. FORMA Y FABRICACIÓN DIGITAL

Description
This course proposes an analysis of the processes involved in defining form in architecture, with a particular focus on digital fabrication techniques. It is important to distinguish between traditional formal design processes followed by subsequent construction, and those in which digital fabrication plays a role in generating the form. The course will reflect on how technique influences and defines form in both cases, and how this relationship transforms design practice. Concepts such as modulation and standardization emerge, which alter architectural outcomes. The main objective is to foster a deep understanding of the links between technique and form, and how these are manifested in digital design processes. The aim is for students to develop a critical and experimental perspective on how CAD/CAM tools not only execute but also inform and transform design. Students will experience all phases of the creation process: from formal conception to fabrication, exploring the modeling processes of components, and determining their most optimal distribution for materialization through printing machines. This exercise will serve to put acquired knowledge into practice and explore the creative and constructive potential of digital fabrication.
