La Salle Campus Barcelona hosts the meeting of the regional council of the International Association of La Salle Universities (IALU), a regular meeting to analyze current issues related to Lasallian higher education, share experiences, and outline future lines of work. This event was attended by most of the university centers in Europe and Francophone Africa, as well as representatives from the Higher Education Area of the districts of France and Arlep and the General Council of La Salle.
On March 18 and 19, the meeting participants discussed the most notable developments of the academic year and made progress in defining a new regional Action Plan, in which they agreed to focus on the joint exploration and development of European funds and projects, as well as the exchange of good pedagogical practices.
Representatives of Lasallian educational centers in the region observed that, given the growing complexity of the environment, the need for systemic networking is more evident than ever to achieve economies of scale and effectiveness in action, while strengthening the commitment to territorial, economic, and social development.
During the visit, the members of the IALU regional board also had the opportunity to visit the recently inaugurated Interactive Arts & Science Laboratory (IASlab), the La Salle-URL laboratory for transdisciplinary research and artistic creation. They also shared the traditional calçotada celebrated annually by the campus educational community, which coincided with the feast day of Saint Joseph, patron saint of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools.
The IALU, founded in 1998, currently comprises more than 66 institutions worldwide and promotes networking among all its members to assert the relevance of Christian values and the charism of Saint John Baptist de La Salle in today's university world. It is a benchmark in social innovation, accessible quality education, and the training of highly qualified and committed agents of transformation.
The IALU is divided into several regions, including Europe and Francophone Africa. During the 13th IALU Meeting, which took place on campus in November 2022, the members of the IALU board and all the directors of the different regions were appointed. The Director General of La Salle Campus Barcelona, Josep M. Santos, was again nominated and approved as Director of the Europe and Francophone Africa region, in addition to being a member of the IALU board.
