60 years connecting technology and society

Technology has not always been part of our everyday lives. For a long time, it seemed to be the preserve of laboratories, research centres and a handful of specialists. However, at the La Salle School of Engineering, we realised early on that the most important thing was not the technology itself, but what we could achieve with it. Sixty years ago, at La Salle – Universitat Ramon Llull, something more profound than an engineering school began. A way of doing things began.

First, we learnt to look at society to identify the problems that really mattered. Not the obvious ones. The important ones.

Then, we learnt to turn questions into challenges. Because every difficulty is also a question waiting for an answer.

And we understood something essential: progress does not happen on its own. It happens when people, knowledge and talent come together.

That is how we began to develop solutions that were no longer confined to the classroom. Because at La Salle – Universitat Ramon Llull, we have always approached engineering from a profoundly human perspective.

A way of putting knowledge at the service of people and society. And of changing not only what we do… but how we live.

And today, the future is no longer just a promise. It is the present that we build every day through knowledge, innovation and commitment. Because when knowledge is put at the service of people, it doesn’t talk about tomorrow. It acts today.

For six decades, thousands of people have followed that same drive. Not as a set of written guidelines, but as a shared way of understanding engineering: listening, connecting, solving problems and contributing. That is why, today, we are not merely celebrating the passage of time. We are celebrating the people, ideas and projects that have made these 60 years of the La Salle School of Engineering possible. 60 years of connecting technology and society.

The legacy: when technology is put at the service of people

At the La Salle – Universitat Ramon Llull Higher Technical School of Engineering, we have spent 60 years doing more than just training engineers; we also build communities that forge personal and professional bonds which endure over time, regardless of the technologies that emerge or have emerged at any given moment. Because what really matters is being prepared to take the plunge and make the world a better place.
