‘Women in STEM’: Engineering and Business students take part in an HP event to promote female talent

The students visit HP’s facilities and meet with company professionals to help increase the presence of women in STEM disciplines

Students from the Engineering and Business fields at La Salle-URL participated in ‘Women in STEM’, an event organised by HP (Hewlett-Packard Company), a leading technology company in printing, computing and digital innovation, aimed at fostering the presence of women in scientific and technological careers. The activity is part of the commitment to promoting female talent in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Throughout the visit, the students attended talks, learned about technological innovation projects, engaged with company professionals, and discovered the initiatives HP is driving to foster inclusion and reduce the gender gap.

The initiative is carried out in collaboration with Women Network in HP and aims to bring new generations closer to female role models who are developing their professional careers in STEM disciplines. This activity, now in its second edition, strengthens the commitment of HP and La Salle-URL to promoting the presence of women in the sector and contributing to a more equitable society.

The event with HP reinforces the interdisciplinary nature of the campus thanks to its focus on students from both the Engineering degrees, taught by the La Salle-URL Digital School of Engineering (ETSELS), and the Degree in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, taught by the International School of Commerce and Digital Economy La Salle-URL (FICEDLS). HP is a member of the Corporate Board Council, the La Salle Campus Barcelona business council that works to promote talent, entrepreneurship, and economic and social cooperation.

“This activity with HP, a member of our Corporate Board Council and a leading company with which we have collaborated for many years on different projects, scholarships and initiatives, allows us to bring our students real testimonies from professional women in STEM fields, in which our campus is a benchmark in teaching, research and knowledge transfer. We are proud to take part in initiatives like this and to continue contributing to the development of a more equal, fair and sustainable world,” says Guiomar Corral, Director of the School of Engineering.
