History of the magazine

COMPRENDRE was founded in 1999 by the Faculty of Philosophy of Ramon Llull University. In 2011, it began a second stage that culminated in September 2022 by being integrated, as part of the Faculty itself, into La Salle - Universitat Ramon Llull. It is its wish to continue deepening one of its identity traits: to be a place for philosophical debate of high academic quality around the intellectual axes and the usual thematic areas, now opening up to the scientific and technological fields raised by the new intellectual challenges of our time. In addition to classic works on epistemology, metaphysics, logic, anthropology, history of philosophy, ethics, philosophy of science, hermeneutics or aesthetics, the journal will from now on welcome studies on artificial intelligence, bioethics, neuroscience and philosophy... Its directors so far have been Josep Monserrat (1999-2006), Ignasi Roviró (2006-2010) and Armando Pego (2010-).

The main objectives of COMPRENDRE are, on the one hand, to promote research and disseminate the study of philosophy in Catalonia, and on the other hand, to present the international panorama of contemporary philosophical studies. We believe that Understanding can thus contribute to the structuring of a space of philosophical communication.
