1. General enrolment conditions

1.1. Official enrolment

Only students who complete the official enrolment procedure will be admitted to the course.

1.2. Application

Students must apply within the deadlines that are determined and published annually. Enrolling students must meet both the requirements established by the admissions department of La Salle Campus Barcelona and the admission requirements of the Ramon Llull University.

1.3. Course Modification

In the event of an error occurring in the enrolment process within the stipulated period, the enrolment may be changed or modified during the stipulated period (in October).

2.1. First-year students

Students that have subjects pending from first year must enrol on these subjects.

 

2.2 Enrollment on more than one academic year's course

The subjects that a student is enrolled on must belong to the same academic year or at the most, to two consecutive academic years.

The Academic Board can make an exception to this rule if there is a change of sylla-bus and/or the student is in her/his final year of study. In this case, the student must request official permission for the exception.

The maximum number of credits that a student can enrol on in each academic course is 60. 

 

2.3. Enrolment on a new academic course

In order to enrol on subjects of a new academic year, students will have to enrol on any pending subjects from previous courses, unless they have dropped out of the undergraduate degree the subjects belong to.

Any requests for exceptions to the abovementioned procedure must be made at least a week before the end of the enrolment period.

 

2.4 Exceptions to the enrolment 

Exceptions to these rules must be justified and the student must request them in writing addressed to the Academic Board. The deadline to submit this kind of request is one week before the end of the enrolment period.

3.1. Exams

Students have the right to be officially examined and graded on every subject in which they are enroled.

The examination session is part of the course, and consequently students cannot waive the exam session. If a student does not attend an exam, s/he will automatically lose the right to be graded and will have a «not presented» on her/his file.

It is obligatory for students that are enrolled on subjects from two different academic years to take the exams of the previous course.

 

3.2. Exam appeals

Students can ask to see her/his exam after any of the exam sessions (Christmas, February, Easter, June or September) in order to analyse and review the mark awarded.

 

3.3. Appealing against a grade

Students have the right to appeal against the final grade of the subjects. The appeal and the resolution of the grade will be regulated by the following rules:

  • The student has 15 days from the publication of the grades to request the review of the graded exam that is the object of dispute. This request is made to the Director.
  • The Director will arbitrate on the procedure s/he considers appropriate to solve the dispute.
  • Professors must keep the exams or documents used for grading the exams for at least for a month from the publication of the exam results in order to guarantee the possibility of review.

 

3.4. Awarding of grades

Grades will only be awarded for the ordinary and extraordinary examination sessions, regardless of the dates or the type of evaluation. Given the nature of the extraordinary exam session, the mark awarded will replace the ordinary grade on the student’s academic record.

4. Academic evaluation board

4.1. Members

The function of an Academic Evaluation Board is to assess each academic course in the ordinary and extraordinary exam sessions. This is made up of qualified teachers of core and elective subjects and is chaired by the Director of Studies or the person s/he delegates the responsibility to

 

4.2. Objectives

The objectives of the Academic Evaluation Board are:

  • To assess the overall academic performance of the student considering the circum-stances which may have affected her/his academic performance.
  • To study how the course syllabus and the coordination between departments could be improved on future courses.

 

4.3. Procedure

It is understood that the grade given to the student is fair. The subject teacher presents the student’s grade to the board who will check and approve it. The grade they give may be different to the one proposed by the subject teacher, depending on the academic effort shown by the student or the circumstances which the board considers to be relevant. If the academic evaluation board cannot agree unanimously on a grade, a vote will be taken to decide the grade. In the event of a draw, the President will have the casting vote. The grades decided by the Board are definitive.

5. Credit transfers and recognitions

5.1. In the event of student possessing credits from the same subject of an unfinished program at La Salle, the credit transfer of the grades and subjects will be automati-cally recognized during the Admission Process.

5.2. Students wishing to transfer credits from subjects taken at other centres should must submit an application form addressed to the Director of the Academic Department together with the required documentation.

5.3. The credit transfer process may only be carried out once and at the beginning of the studies.

5.4. This request will include all the studies undertaken at the time of application, and the transfer will cover all the possible subjects of the degree program. Once credits have been transferred, this decision is irrevocable.

  • Only subjects requested by the student will be processed.

5.5. Transfers will only be awarded on the strength of completed courses, never on sub-jects that have been previously recognized by other centres.

5.6. The Credit Transfer Committee will meet in October. Once the student has been informed of the resolution of her/his request, s/he will have to enrol on all the recog-nized subjects.

5.7. Documents required:

  • Official accredited degree, diploma or certificate.
  • Course guide or syllabus published by the corresponding university.
  • Course program included in the aforementioned syllabus or curriculum.

All these documents must be official, original, issued by the official authorities and, in the case of foreign students, legalized by diplomatic means, and accompanied by their official translation into Catalan or Spanish.

6. Minimum academic performance

6.1. Academic record

First year students who fail to pass a minimum of 18 credits during the examination sessions of June and September will not be allowed to continue her/his studies.

Under normal circumstances, all students of the Architecture School of La Salle Campus Barcelona must pass all the first-year subjects in their first two years of study. Otherwise, the academic evaluation Board may deny the student the right to continue her/his studies.

Credits obtained through the credit transfer process are not taken into account in this decision.

 

6.2. Access to second year

First-year students who have not passed a minimum of five subjects are only permit-ted to repeat the remaining first-year subjects.

In the event of a student not passing all the first-year subjects, but having passed five or more subjects, the maximum number of subjects s/he can take has to be equiva-lent to the credits achieved in her/his first year of study.

SStudents must pass this subject in two years; otherwise, the Academic Evaluation Board may deny the student to continue her/his studies.

 The la Salle Campus Barcelona Architecture School has established the following incompatibilities between some subjects in consecutive courses.

IIf there is an incompatibility of subjects in the student’s timetable, s/he should speak to the teachers of those subjects. If it is not possible to combine the subjects, the student will have to drop one of them.

8. Final grade

WWhen calculating the final grade, each subject has a certain weight expressed in credits. In the current syllabus, the mark awarded to the final project makes up 25% of the final grade.

9. Exceptions

In individual and exceptional circumstances, the Director, having previously received a report from the Academic Evaluation Board, may make exceptions to the rules established. This may occur in cases where the application of these rules could seri-ously damage the student’s interests, provided that these exceptions do not contra-dict the regulations established by the Rector. In such circumstances, the student must present an individual request addressed to the Director with a report from her/his supervisor or tutor.

In such circumstances, the student will have to present an individual application addressed to the Director with the academic tutor's report.

10. Students responsibilities

10.1. These rules are public and the student can consult them during the Enrollment Process.

10.2. The student enrolls under his/her own responsibility and has the obligation to know and respect the conditions of this Regulation.

10.3. The enrollment form is effectively an application form. The student’s continuity at the School is not guaranteed by the fact that the application is processed by the administration.

10.4. Any enrollment which does not respect these rules shall be considered null and void.
