La Salle-URL hosts the 2026 International Workshop on Ecological Urban Security and Sustainability

The event, jointly organised by Suffolk University and Fudan University, brought together international experts over three days to address the key challenges of urban ecological security and sustainability

La Salle Campus Barcelona, founding member of Universitat Ramon Llull, hosted the 2026 Urban Ecological Security and Sustainability Annual Workshop (UESS), held from 20 to 22 July. Jointly organised by Suffolk University (Boston, United States) and Fudan University (Shanghai, China), the conference brought together researchers, academics, government representatives, industry professionals and international experts to share knowledge and discuss the key challenges of urban ecological security and sustainability.

Over the course of the three-day event, participants shared research, experiences and best practices in areas such as sustainable urban planning and design, ecological restoration, green energy, environmental analysis and sustainable land use. The programme fostered knowledge exchange between academia, public authorities and industry, promoting an interdisciplinary approach to the environmental challenges facing cities. La Salle-URL also played an active role in the scientific programme, with faculty members from the campus presenting their expertise and research to fellow participants, contributing to the international dialogue on sustainability, innovation and urban development.

The event also strengthened La Salle-URL's collaboration with two internationally renowned institutions. Suffolk University is a prestigious university based in Boston, while Fudan University, recognised as one of Asia's leading universities, has maintained a close relationship with La Salle-URL for more than two decades through student exchange programmes and study trips.
