Universitat Ramon Llull (URL), of which La Salle-URL is a founding member, is the second-best private university in Spain, according to the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026. The URL is positioned within the 801–1,000 range worldwide, thus achieving eighth place in Spain and fifth within the Catalan university system.
In this year’s edition, the World University Rankings highlights the international dimension of Universitat Ramon Llull, an area in which it achieves the third-highest score in Spain and the second-highest in Catalonia, with 73.7 points out of a maximum of 100. The Times Higher Education ranking is based on the evaluation of eighteen indicators that measure the performance of higher education institutions across five weighted areas: research quality (30%), teaching (29.5%), research environment (29%), international outlook (7.5%), and industry (4%).
The data sources assessed for the World University Rankings include information provided by the universities themselves, bibliometric data from Elsevier, and surveys completed by academics worldwide. In the 2026 edition, 2,191 universities from 115 countries took part in the ranking. In addition, more than 108,000 academics responded to the surveys, and 170 million citations and 18 million publications were analyzed.
