The Animation Fest celebrates the talent of La Salle-URL students and the presence of Luca Mazzoleni, a leader in the sector

Animation & VFX students present their final degree projects and Luca Mazzoleni, a professional with more than three decades of experience, gives the keynote lecture

La Salle Campus Barcelona, ​​a founding member of the Universitat Ramon Llull, held a new edition of the Animation Fest, the annual event that culminates the end of the academic year for Animation & VFX students and professors and consolidates the campus as one of the leading university centers in the animation sector. This year, the main guest was Luca Mazzoleni, a professional artist with more than three decades of experience in the 2D/3D animation sector. Mazzoleni has worked for producers such as DreamWorks, Sony, MPC and Framestore and in series and films such as Wolf King (Netflix); Harry Potter; Alice in Wonderland; How to train your dragon. Homecoming; Man of steel; and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; among others.

The Animation Fest was held on July 2nd in the Auditori of the Sant Josep building of La Salle-URL and this edition coincides with the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Degree in Animation & VFX, the first university degree in animation in Catalonia. Throughout the morning, the presentations of the Final Degree Projects of the degree students were presented and in the afternoon, Luca Mazzoleni gave a talk. Finally, the awards for the best projects of the academic year took place.

The presence of top-level international speakers such as Luca Mazzoleni, as well as the presentations of the work of the animation students, highlight the importance of the event, the talent of the students and the academic excellence of their studies. In addition, this is the first edition of the event in which Brooder Lab, the incubator for emerging content and talent born on campus, was present at the awards ceremony and at the presentations to learn about the work that emerged from the degree and possible future collaboration projects. On the other hand, the company HP was responsible for producing the 3D printing awards. All in all, the Animation Fest is a unique opportunity to learn from leaders in the profession, learn about the reality of the sector at a global level and promote new creative ideas that contribute to the future of the audiovisual sector.
