Blanca Roman Viñas holds a degree in Medicine from the University of Barcelona (1984-1990), a specialization in Sports Medicine (via MIR, 1991-1993), a Master´s degree in Human Nutrition (1997) and a PhD in Medicine from the University of Barcelona (2008).

She is an associate professor at the Ramon Llull University, in the Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sports Sciences and in the Faculty of Health. She is also an associate professor at the University School of Health and Sports (EUSES) of the University of Girona.

Her research areas focus on the study of the validity of physical activity measurement methods, the assessment of physical activity in the population and its determinants, the effects of physical activity on health and the assessment of eating habits and inadequate nutrient intakes in the population. She is a researcher in the Health, Physical Activity and Sports Research Group (SAFE) of the Ramon Llull University. She is also a researcher in the “Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red, Fisiopatología de la Obesidad y Nutrición” of the Carlos III Health Institute and she participates in the “Red Española por una infancia activa y saludable”, funded by the Ministry of Culture and Sports. She has worked as a research physician at the Nutritional Research Foundation and in the Community Nutrition Research Group of the Barcelona Science Park. She has published around sixty articles in indexed scientific journals and has written several book chapters.

She has worked as a specialist in sports medicine in institutions as the Vallcarca Primary Care Centre, Gran Via Medical Institute, Eixample Sports Centre, DIR sports centres, Laboratory of Functional Assessment of the School of Physical Education and Sports Medicine of the University of Barcelona, ¿¿among others.
