The cycle is presented as an open space for reflection on the major themes that define contemporary society, a place of freedom where the invitation is to rethink reality from diverse philosophical, social, and cultural perspectives. Through lectures, masterclasses, and debates, the cycle aims to create a deep dialogue on contemporary challenges, offering space for critical reflection and the search for answers to the fundamental questions of our time.
In this new phase, we begin a cycle that will lead us to reflect on the concept of hope in the society of exhaustion, following the thought of Byung-Chul Han. This South Korean philosopher, based in Germany, has been one of the main critics of the neoliberal, individualistic, and consumerist society that drags us into a frantic pace of production and self-improvement. In his latest book, The Spirit of Hope (Herder, 2024), Han offers us a renewed vision of hope, necessary to face the existential crisis we live through. Dr. Fernando Pérez-Borbujo will guide us through this journey into Han’s work, unraveling how, in the midst of the exhaustion and dehumanization of our time, space can be opened for a rebirth of hope.
