The International Association of La Salle Universities (IALU) is the global network connecting La Salle universities and higher education institutions around the world. Established in 1998, it currently comprises 67 institutions that share the Lasallian mission and work together to foster international collaboration, share knowledge and address the major challenges facing higher education and society.
Under the motto Bound by Mission, Committed to Impact, IALU is implementing its 2026-2028 Strategic Plan, strengthening the network as a connected international higher education ecosystem focused on generating impact. Its activity is structured around four key areas: strengthening the network’s international influence in higher education and sustainability; fostering collaboration and connectivity between institutions; developing Lasallian talent and leadership; and supporting emerging institutions.
Being part of IALU enables universities to share knowledge, develop joint projects and create new opportunities for academic, research and innovation collaboration. The network also promotes the Vertical Alliances of Excellence, which connect institutions with shared areas of expertise to develop joint initiatives. The La Salle Business School Alliance (LSBSA) is the first of these alliances and will be joined by new networks in areas such as engineering and technology, education and health sciences.
La Salle – Universitat Ramon Llull plays an active role in the development of the network. Since 2026, its Director General, Josep M. Santos, has served as President of IALU, after previously serving as Vice-President. In this role, he contributes to driving a new stage focused on strengthening collaboration between institutions, consolidating an increasingly connected university network and transforming the shared mission into initiatives that have an impact on students and society.
From 7 to 12 November 2022, the 13th International Association of La Salle Universities (IALU) Gathering was held in Beauvais and Barcelona.
