Academic background
• PhD in Arts and Techno-aesthetics, Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero (Argentina), 2024–present.
• Degree in Stage Lighting Design, Universidad Nacional de las Artes (Argentina), 2021.

Teaching activity
Lecturer at La Salle-URL since 2024. She teaches Light Art, light-based creation and lighting design at La Salle-URL, EINA/UAB, IED Barcelona and LIGHT.LAB.

Research and knowledge transfer
Her research focuses on Light Art as an autonomous artistic discipline, understanding light as material, language and experience. She has presented lectures and publications in Europe and Latin America.

Professional activity
Founder of Sophya Acosta Lighting Design Studio (2019), based in Barcelona and Buenos Aires. Her practice integrates lighting design, Light Art and scenic, architectural and cultural projects. She has collaborated with Olympic Broadcasting Services and Cirque du Soleil at Sea.

Recognitions
40 under 40 in Lighting Design (2022). Jury member for the LIT Awards and guest jury member for the [d]arc awards 2023.
