Miguel Ramírez received his MSc degree in Telecommunications from Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya in 1976. In 1976 joined Telefonica where he was responsible for engineering in Catalonia. In 2006 he move to Telefonica R+D as Operations director for Catalonia. From 2008 he works as telecommunications consultant.
From 2005 to 2011 was dean of the engineering association. Nowadays he is vice president of the telecommunications council of Catalonia, vicepresident of the Aqpe (qualification agency for the spanish engineers) and counsel member of the catalan agency for data protection.
He teaches telecommunication systems and telephony at the Ramon Llull University from 1976.
