Ignasi Medà Calvet

Ignasi Meda-Calvet holds a PhD in History of Science and Technology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2018), awarded Cum Laude and the Extraordinary Doctoral Prize. His research focuses on the development of personal computing and the video game industry in Spain (1980–1990), combining historical, sociological, and economic perspectives.
He has been a lecturer at La Salle–Universitat Ramon Llull since 2020, teaching Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Digital Economy, and Economic Growth & Innovation. He has also taught at the UAB, EU Business School, and Tecnocampus-UPF in areas such as history of science, economics, and digital culture.
His research activity includes participation in funded projects on public history, urban narratives, and scientific culture, as well as a research stay at Indiana University’s School of Informatics and Computing. He has published articles, book chapters and reviews on the history of computing and video games, and supervises PhD dissertations and undergraduate theses.
