Guillem Blasco PIles

Guillem Blasco Piles is a PhD candidate in Economic History at the Universitat de Barcelona, where he also completed the Master in Economic History (2021-2022) and the Master in Economics (2016-2018, with specialisation in: econometrics, game theory and economic growth and development), after obtaining a degree in Economics at the Universitat de València (2011-2016).
His research focuses on industrialisation processes, or technological diffusion, in developing countries, specifically analysing Chinese, Ottoman and Russian industrialisation reforms and policies in the 19th century.
He has had international professional experience as an English teacher in Beijing, China (2017-2018), and has participated in academic exchange programmes in Germany (Friedrich Alexander Universität, 2014-2015). His publications include the article `From sickle tone hammer: the decline of production frictions and the industrialization of Russia¿ published in the Journal of Industrial History (2023). He has collaborated with institutions such as the Consellería de Hacienda de la Generalitat Valenciana (Department of European Funds, 2015-2016) and currently works as a lecturer at La Salle-Universitat Ramon Llull, combining teaching with his doctoral research.
