Teaching activity
Full-time professor at La Salle Campus Barcelona – Universitat Ramon Llull since 2024, teaching in the field of Local Area Networks, Digital Communications and Telecommunication Systems. He has also participated in various master´s programs related to his professional activity at the Ramon Llull University, the University of Zaragoza and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
Professional activity
Ferran Castro has developed an intense professional activity in the field of private companies, in which he has held various positions over 36 years; Technical Director of DIMAT S.A., Director of Business Development of ZIV Communications and Director of Business Development of iGrid T&D. He has led the development of various telecommunications-related products in the energy sector, such as the world´s first digital power line carrier system, analog, digital and IEC61850 teleprotection systems, line differential protection systems and various low and medium voltage PLC systems. He has been a Spanish member and representative in various international forums and working groups, such as IEC and CIGRÉ. He has presented several articles in publications and conferences in the energy sector.
Awards
Ferran Castro received the second prize in the II Contest of Operational Military Research "General Fernández Chicarro", for the work "Model of Effectiveness in Antisubmarine Warfare" – Ministry of Defense, 1989.
