With the Doctoral Welcome Day, La Salle – Universitat Ramon Llull has completed its welcome events for students joining the campus this academic year, following the sessions for undergraduate students in September and master's students in October. For the first time, the event has brought together students from both doctoral programmes offered on campus.

The session was attended by students, programme coordinators, supervisors and thesis directors from the Doctoral Programme in Information Technologies and their Application to Management, Architecture and Geophysics, and the Doctoral Programme in Philosophy: Humanism and Transcendence. The event provided an opportunity for doctoral researchers and more experienced research staff from different fields of knowledge to meet and exchange ideas.

This academic year, more than 70 students are pursuing doctoral studies at La Salle-URL, conducting their research within the research areas of the campus's two research groups: Human Environment Research (HER) and Smart Society. Both groups are recognised by the Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR) and hold the TECNIO seal, which certifies the quality of their technology transfer activities with the business sector.

The event opened with contributions from Dr David Miralles and Dr Armando Pego, coordinators of La Salle-URL's doctoral programmes. This was followed by a welcome address from the campus provost, Dr Rosa Ma. Alsina, who encouraged doctoral students to forge their own research paths and remain aware of the potential of knowledge to generate a positive impact on society. The session continued with meetings between students and their respective programme coordinators and concluded with an informal gathering in the Auditorium foyer.

With this first joint event, La Salle-URL aims to encourage interaction and the exchange of ideas among researchers from the different fields of knowledge represented on campus. The initiative forms part of the institution's commitment to doctoral education, the highest academic level in higher education, and to research that not only pushes the boundaries of knowledge but also helps address society's challenges and improve people's lives.
