At a time when higher education is undergoing profound transformations on a global scale, with technological acceleration and geopolitical instability as underlying structural factors, La Salle-URL is launching its 2025–2029 Strategic Plan. In this new phase, the campus aims to take a step forward in scale through a firm commitment to the academic and digital transformation of its model, with the goal of strengthening the reach and social impact of its entire knowledge ecosystem.
“Higher education can no longer be limited to transmitting knowledge. We must anticipate trends, integrate artificial intelligence with sound judgment, and educate leaders capable of working responsibly in complex environments,” explains Josep M. Santos, General Manager of La Salle-URL. Leading international reports confirm this structural transformation. The World Economic Forum’s Future Jobs Report 2025 states that 39% of core workforce skills will change by 2030. Meanwhile, the European Commission warns that more than 90% of jobs already require basic digital skills and that the shortage of technological talent is one of the main challenges to European competitiveness.
With this vision, La Salle-URL strengthens its governance structure through two strategic appointments: Dr. Rosa M. Alsina has been named the new Provost and Ramon Miranda, who brings extensive experience in senior leadership roles within the Accenture group, assumes leadership of the newly created Strategy and Digital Transformation Office. “The current moment calls for depth and collaboration. Meaningful and far-reaching changes must be addressed through convergence and networked work. The university must be a space for partnership, critical thinking, and real impact on society,” explains Josep M. Santos.
From consolidation to scaling up: social impact and commitment to the common good
La Salle-URL’s previous strategic cycle was marked by growth and institutional consolidation, achieving significant results in positioning, internationalization, and the development of its academic ecosystem. Now, the 2025–2029 Strategic Plan goes a step further, setting ambitious goals in economic indicators, the attraction of international students, the expansion of university outreach, and the consolidation of new strategic partnerships.
The purpose goes beyond quantitative growth. La Salle-URL aims to become a transdisciplinary and connected metacampus, capable of integrating teaching, research, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer within an ecosystem open to the world and oriented toward social impact through a commitment to the common good. In line with this international vocation, Josep M. Santos, Director General of La Salle-URL, has recently assumed the vice presidency of the International Association of Lasallian Universities (IALU), the network that brings together Lasallian universities worldwide.
New governance model to execute the strategy
Dr. Rosa M. Alsina, previously Director of Research and Innovation, assumes the role of Provost, serving as Academic Vice President. Her mission is to ensure the coherence, quality, and international projection of all faculties and programs, integrating teaching, research, and social impact activities across the institution. “The university must combine academic excellence, technological innovation, and ethical responsibility. From a humanistic approach to technology, we aim to lead the thoughtful adoption of artificial intelligence and new technologies, preparing professionals capable of successfully addressing the challenges of the future,” explains Dr. Alsina.
Meanwhile, Ramon Miranda leads the new Strategy and Digital Transformation Office, which is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Strategic Plan and driving a cross-cutting transformation across all areas, based on data-driven management, process optimization, and the enhancement of the campus’s digital experience. “Our mission is to transform La Salle-URL into a connected, efficient, and impact-oriented campus, where data, technology, and people work in harmony to anticipate the future and multiply our social impact,” says Miranda.
Through its new 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, La Salle-URL reinforces its international vocation and its commitment to a higher education model that anticipates trends, operates from a humanistic technological perspective, and generates real impact on society. “We are living through a historic transition in which artificial intelligence, digitalization, and uncertainty are reshaping the economy and society. Our challenge goes beyond adaptation. As La Salle has historically done, from the campus we seek to anticipate change, educate professionals with sound judgment, and consolidate an ecosystem capable of generating real impact through commitment,” concludes Josep M. Santos.
