La Salle-URL hosts the LSdreams 2018 awards ceremony

The international competition for pre-university students has rewarded La Salle school projects in Spain, Turkey, Italy, Portugal and Palestine
Friday 11 May saw the celebration of the closing ceremony of the 8th edition of the LSdreams competition, with the awards ceremony held at La Salle Campus Barcelona-URL. After a three-day visit to Barcelona where they were able to see the city and take part in a range of activities, the winning teams explained their projects, whose goal is to improve their immediate surroundings.

The competition is an initiative by La Salle Universities and is open to pre-university La Salle educational centres in Europe and the Middle East, for 16 to 20 year olds. The goal of the awards is to promote ethical values in research projects aimed at social improvement of their immediate surroundings. The winning projects deal with such issues as energy transformation, fire prevention using apps, the construction of the new while respecting the old, and healthcare, with innovations for blind people and improvements in pacemakers.

In this year's edition, the competition has awarded five first-place prizes, one Assedil award, one extraordinary LSdreams award and four second-place prizes.

  • In the area of Engineering, first prize was awarded to the LSdreams 45 group, from the ISTITUTI FILIPPIN in Paderno del Grappa (ITALY) for their "Unblind-Me" project. 

The Accessit award was given to the LSdreams 59 group, from the Groupe Scholaire Saint-Nicolas -Issy-les-Moulineaux (FRANCE) for their project, "Mini Serre Connectée".

  • In the area of Architecture, the jury awarded first prize and the ASSEDIL LSdreams Award to the LSdreams 66 group, from the Collège des Frères in JERUSALEM (PALESTINE) for their project: “Antiquité futuriste”. 

An Accesit award was also handed to the LSdreams69 group, from Lycée Saint Michel, SISLY (TURKEY) for their "Green Buildings" project. 

  • In the area of Business Management, first place was awarded to the LSdreams 73 group, from La Salle Bilbao (SPAIN), for their "Feeling Cells" project. 

The jury also awarded this centre with the Accessit award in Business Management for the LSdreams 56 group, for their "EcoUhin" project.

  • In the area of Health, first place went to the LSdreams 40 group, from École Sant - Michel Fransiz Lisesi from Istanbul (TURKEY), for their "Smart Pacemaker" project.
  • In the area of Life Sciences and the Earth, the Jury awarded first prize, as well as the extraordinary LSdreams Award, to the LSdreams 60 group, from Colégio La Salle Barcelos in Barcelos (PORTUGAL), for their project, "Stop the Fire".

The jury also awarded an Accessit prize to the LSdreams 82 group, from St Joseph Fransiz Lisesi, TURKEY, for their project, "Waterproof”.
