La Salle-URL Contributes to the Development of IALU’s 2026–2028 Strategic Plan in Europe

The Casa Generalizia in Rome hosts working sessions to advance strategic priorities and develop the region’s action plan for 2026–2028

La Salle – Universitat Ramon Llull took part in working sessions held by the European delegation of the International Association of La Salle Universities at the Casa Generalizia in Rome, La Salle’s global headquarters. The meetings helped advance the region’s strategic priorities and the development of its action plan for 2026–2028, within the framework of IALU’s 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, approved by the General Council, and the agreements reached by the Council of the Europe and Bethlehem region.

Representing the campus were Josep M. Santos, Director General of La Salle-URL and President of IALU, and Nina Hofmann, Head of the Office of the Director General and Institutional Relations. Representatives from La Salle Campus Madrid, the other La Salle university institution in Spain and Portugal (Arlep District), also attended: President Juan Carlos Gutiérrez; Vice-President Alfonso Gil; and Bro. José Andrés Sánchez, Director of the Religious Studies Department.

During the sessions, representatives of European Lasallian universities analysed the region’s current situation and opportunities for collaboration, with the aim of strengthening cooperation across the network and increasing its impact through a shared educational mission.

The working programme covered current developments in the Lasallian Region of Europe and the Mediterranean (RELEM), IALU’s latest developments and projects, the Rome formation programme, and the development of the Charter of Identity for a European Lasallian Higher Education Institution. Participants also discussed the strategic priorities of the Europe and Bethlehem region and the preparation of its 2026–2028 action plan.

The sessions helped advance a shared agenda for European Lasallian universities, with a particular focus on inter-institutional collaboration, shared identity and strengthening an international university network committed to education and social impact.
